CEO posting on HotCopper: A Privilege rather than a Right!
Some of the complaints are verging on an abuse of the privilege that we've all come to see as a right: direct access to our company CEO.
Folks, this access that we have, is a privilege that we should enjoy and not abuse. The CEO could take the advice of outsiders and stop posting on HotCopper! Will that make you less dissatisfied?
While we each have a stake in the company, no individual (or even a few individuals) owns enough to justify monopolizing, to the point of even commandeering the CEO to act in some way that fulfils their wishes (wishes of that single shareholder).
The CEO is there to serve not one person's, but our collective interests. If I personally felt that the CEO was dishonest or I had lost confidence in him or the company (as some seem to have), I would simply sell my shares and move on, just as I have done with other investments that weren't working out for me.
- Why are you still here, if you are so convinced that this man is not doing a good job?
- And what makes you think that your way is the right way?
- If he follows your way and messes up, will you take responsibility for the mess?
- What better companies are you invested in that you are using to benchmark against this one?
Many want the share price to go up - yet they have been bashing the company and the CEO every day, many times a day, for many weeks! What message does that send to those who are looking for a good home for their money? I use HC as part of my research, and there are names that I have crossed off after reading just a couple of posts. In fact, we have had a few chaps (Blue et al) coming to RAC to spread lies and fear, in the hope of scaring people into jumping ship and going to their failing company!
For the record: I am not saying we should be satisfied with what we see as lack of progress. Not at all. But, rather than bashing or commandeering - just sell up and leave.
