I have been keeping a list of anthracycline cardioprotective drugs (in the lab anyway) and I have a list with over 200 of them. What none of them have is broad, additive/synergistic anticancer activity which is the key to commercial success. We already have had a cheap generic cardioprotective drug (dexrazoxane) on the market for decades and it is hardly ever used in patients because it doesn't help treat their cancer.
