    No Australian cancer charity has the resources or mandate to bring new drugs to market. If you want to support pure scientific research then charities can be great, but if you want new treatments developed then you will need to put your money into biotechs or pharma companies. Even if you treat your investment as just a donation, if the biotech company succeeds then the worst that will happen is you get to make more donations (investments).

    I can’t believe how stupid the last comment from Kochie was - the idea that buying on market doesn’t help biotechs and that you should only buy in a capital raise is so wrong that I wonder if he has dementia. Even the dullest investor knows that if there is no secondary market for shares (ASX) there can be no primary market (IPOs and capital raises). No investor is going to participate in a raise if there is no way for them to later sell their shares and this is before we get to the obvious issue that if nobody buys on market then the SP will be zero making any raise impossible.
