Speaking with a sound knowledge of investment banking and risk management I would admit the move made by Merchant Fund is to de risk themselves and ensure in a black swan event (mentioned by Dr T) they walk away with something to show their shareholders. However - they still have big skin in the game and are awaiting for outsized returns.
