Firstly, let me admit that I have and well and truly drunk the cool-aid with RAC!
i tend to agree with you though that there are much easier (less risky for the shorter?) stocks to short than RAC. The buyback is a reminder to shorters of dry-powder available to soak up cheap shares, and although I haven’t bought any new stock for over 12 months, if price dropped on rising short interest while mgt were still giving positive noises and there was still enough cash in the kitty to fund trials to real results… I’d be freeng up cash to invest some more. there’s probably a few other rusted-one like me that would do the same.
There’s also the practical matter of where shorters would find stock to borrow - MOF? BG? Other private investors in the T20?
