You'd be surprised with Buffet, he actually made his first million with an "all in" punt. The company was making money and was less speculative but it does go to show the fact that wealth is created in more speculative bets (such as RAC) whereas wealth is preserved via the way in which he invests today. Buffet might not invest in stocks like RAC today given he is a multi-billionaire and has no need to, but that's not to say he wouldn't have when he had a similar level of wealth as us.
