This is interesting. I've used Telegram for years; it is the preferred chat platform in Russia and was developed by a Russian. The CEO is the founder of Vkontakt (VK) which is the Facebook of Russian-speaking countries.
I've used Telegram for customer service queries via bots for my bank and telco and for 2 airlines.
If Telegram was a telco, it would be the world's 2nd largest with 900m MAU (subscribers) after China Mobile.
I have always highlighted a few issues with CogVoice:
1. People prefer texting than calling these days; I posted research earlier supporting this view. If anyone has alternative data then post it.
2. CogVoice is unable to interact with 3rd party apps (Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram) due to end-to-end encryption
Whilst in India on this trip, I saw WhatsApp as the preferred customer service platform for Indian companies. WhatsApp has 2 billion MAU and would be the world's largest telco by 2+x.
So consider this... both WhatsApp and Telegram have voice capabilities and yet the bots are used by texting. Now why would that be? Meanwhile, CogVoice is voice activated. Talk about being late on a trend... again (WP, WorldSecure, VM).
If anyone has a counter-argument, then put it up.
