Pay a membership fee... Interesting concept really. But I can't see how it would ever work. The thing about this site is that we're all contributors. We create the product and we are the product. I don't think many would pay to create the product and be the product. If you asked people to pay you'd reduce subscribers by probably 80% and thus there would be 80% less content.

If HotCopper provided unique additional content. Like broker reports, analysis, shareholder information then perhaps it would be worth subscribing.

More likely if they go down that path they'll create premium users, ad free, user to user messaging, premium user only forums, immediate access to announcements, etc.

I agree Billy, great content tonight, thoughtful and considered and no personal attacks.
