Batch production usually refers to having something (a discrete number of items or amount of stuff) run through one stage of the production process before moving on to the next stage.
In other words, in this case, it probably means that x volume of feedstock was processed in “one go” rather than simply opening the taps to the plant and waiting for product to flow from the final stage.
They may have fed enough feedstock, for example, to make say 1 tonne of product, and put that “batch” through the various stages.
That allows tweaking and evaluation of the effect of various plant “settings” on final product quality etc.
Rinse repeat and observe changes to output characteristics.
Does that make sense?
