Do they really have better things to do though? Based on the amount of emails and phone calls JZ personally responds to in order to placate individual shareholders, it seems like he actually doesn't have better things to. Is constant shareholder engagement really the best use of his time? How much would it really cost to hire a recent graduate as a PR rep for AGY? Maybe $100-120k per year (or two bags of BG carbonate for those inclined).
That PR rep could manage social media engagement, update the website, conduct day-to-day shareholder engagement and punch out a flaky presentation or two. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
