Agree, they are different. GLN will only be producing lithium chloride from their evaporation ponds that they are now constructing to complete by 1st half 2025. GLN does not have an export license for the lithium chloride which is not allowed to be exported. GLN has an offtake with Glencore, currently under due diligence study, to purchase the lithium chloride. Glencore will toll treat the lithium chloride at a third party plant to convert into lithium carbonate.
AGY has those evaporation ponds already where we use the lithium chloride(brine) to make lithium carbonate at our 2k plant. Hence, lithium carbonate is a much more valuable product and much more difficult/technological to produce.
I wonder who Glencore will use to toll treat the Chloride in Hombre Muerto.
