Too much to expect from any similar company? Give it a rest @GCar. Here's an extract from a quarterly report for Olaroz Stage 1 from Orocobre back in June 2015, when they were at a similar stage (early ramp-up, resolving some production circuit issues). Note how they go into explicit detail about the issues they had, what had been done to fix it, how much it cost, how much was produced and when, plus forward looking guidance on expected nameplate. As they are/were the only other ASX listed brine operator, they are an obvious comparison.
Is it really too much to ask for a quarterly from AGY that is as clear, accurate and transparent as this? Instead AGY provide updates that are frequently misinterpreted by holders due to being full of semantics, likely designed to distract from the lack of notable progress.
Oh and you want an example of a company that gave monthly updates for construction? Again, see the link below for Orocobre's announcements from 2013-2016. They did monthly announcements throughout construction, commissioning, ramp-up and early production, and even a small sample shows that they were far more transparent than AGY. Of particular note is that with each update, they explained exactly how much had been spent and whether it was on time/on budget. They continued the monthly reporting through early production, then in their final monthly update the notified shareholders that "the company intends to transition to quarterly forecasting and quarterly reporting". They didn't do it like AGY did, where they left investors hanging with no guidance, and only dropped the monthly reporting when things went wrong with the filtration system.
