When the market acts irrationally, we investors experience a fear of the unknown. What is the underlying cause of this mayhem, what things do I not know that are going to impact my judgement of this company, and so on. Buy the dip turns into sell the ABC wave correction.
The best advice given to people who breakdown in the outback, is stay with the vehicle. Some people who have never down a bushwalk in their life attempt to cross rough country. Others that have not done the 1500m for years suddenly try running a marathon. Point is, now is not the time to try to become a trader when we are on the cusp of a energy revolution like the world has not seen for a century. Stay with the investment vehicle that you chose before the market became irrational. It will become rational again after the BEOT have got their fill. One of the things I hate doing is selling due to panic, only to buy due to exuberance a few weeks later - and I see it happening a lot.
This is not the time to react irrationally. The supply/demand imbalance for EV commodities has not changed recently, we still have an increasing production of electric vehicles unmatched by current production. By my count, Lithium waves 1, 2 and 3 have rolled through the investment scene. The Goldman Sachs of this world hoped that the interest rate rise would have a bigger impact on the price of EV stocks especially in Australia. All pretence at driving down prices for any logical cause was dropped today. An opinion was announced and a coordinated sell was initiated by a lot of trading houses. The sheer volume was not retail driven. They are preying on the fear of a pullback like the first lithium wave. We have come far beyond that. All in my opinion, of course.
