Oh dear.

Why don’t we use a simple example:
Bought 1M @ 45c
Bought 1M @ 35c
Bought 400K @ 40c
Holding 2.4M shares
Cost: $960,000
Avg = 40c

FIFO
Sold 400k @ 38.5c
Revenue: $154,000
Holding 2M shares
Cost base of remaining shares: $960.000 - $180,000
= $780,000
Avg purchase price of remaining shares = 39c

…but:
“Selling 400k at 38.5 cents brought down my average significantly”

It’s no wonder that you are so disgruntled then, as you must’ve made your early entry/ies here at significantly above 45c…?!


Anyway, thanks for clarifying, and glad you got that average down by buying more at lower prices. Unfortunately your investment thesis failed for you and hopefully you do better in the future.


ps, I’m not sure why you’re still upset about some having bought so much earlier and so much lower?
We just spotted the opportunity earlier, that’s all.
