It's definitely not shorters - there's been hardly any shorting for weeks now. If anything, there has been a small amount of covering (green highlights below) but nothing significant. They probably won't cover until the price starts moving up in earnest - but the open short position is having no impact sitting there like it is (damage has been done earlier on that front - but again, not really significant in the scheme of things).
