The Argentine General/Presidential elections are at the end of next week. The Argentine tax scare story is just electioneering. Milei is now the favourite to get in and he is an ardent free-marketeer. He certainly won’t be imposing any new tax on lithium and the stock may get a boost if he gets in.

it is worth bearing in mind that JL worked for Livent for many years and so knows the Argentine brine scene extremely well. He is slso very close to DJ. During his podcast at Lithium Argentina recently the guys there said there was no point every project in Argentina building its own Carbonation plant. Like the gas industry, it makes much more sense for production projects to share plant capacity, which is GLN’s initial strategy. JL would have asked around about spare capacity in Argentine carbonation plants before declaring he liked Galan. DJ, who used to sell LiCl for SQM, will also know this market intimately, so I can’t see capacity to take Galan’s LiCl product locally being an issue.
