my understanding is that Sodium batteries only become economic when the LCE price is above $30,000 pt, and even then, its applications are quite niche
The big disruptor among new battery technologies is solid state, which gives a car range of over 1,000 km, and can be charged in minutes. The battery has already been developed, but mass production is a problem because assembly is very delicate. However, you have to believe they will crack it in the next few years.
Solid state batteries are made from lithium metal, which is made from lithium chloride, the product that Galan will be producing. It is possible that solid state batteries may make carbonate and hydroxide plants obsolete.
