Another country throws its hat into the ring
- Earlier this month, a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Energy visited the province of Catamarca to discuss lithium projects in the area.
- Delbuono estimates that there are 15 projects in northwest Argentina that have the necessary characteristics to be financed by Saudi investors.
- However, as financial difficulties made access to credit more difficult and expensive, the entry of new foreign investors could represent a win-win situation.
- All in all,Argentina could become the center of the energy transition process. “All the development around lithium that exists in Chile is also possible on the other side of the border, in Argentina. And this is the right time to do it,” Peña said.
