Mining companies will finance works on a route that connects Catamarca with Salta
Catamarca advances the paving project of Route 43 , which will be financed by mining companies with an investment of more than 30 million dollars. In this context, Governor Raúl Jalil, together with the mayor of Antofagasta de la Sierra, Mario Cusipuma, met with representatives of the mining companies Arcadium Lithium, POSCO, Galan Lithium and Panamerican Energy (PAE).At the meeting it was agreed to put out to tender the first 60 km of the route, which represents the first section of the work, in the coming days . The bidding process will be national, open to any company in the country, with the condition of associating under the figure of Temporary Business Union (UTE) with at least 55% of Catamarca capital. The basic work and paving project for Route 43 covers a total of 112 kilometers from the town of Antofagasta de la Sierra to the border with Salta , crossing the entire Salar del Hombre Muerto , significantly improving road connectivity in the Catamarca puna.
After the meeting, Mayor Mario Cusipuma said that “it was a very productive meeting for Antofagasta de la Sierra because Route 43 is very important for us. Luckily, we are moving forward so that the first stage of the work will be put out to tender soon and we are very grateful to Governor Raúl Jalil and the mining companies.”Participating in the meeting were Juan Pablo Vargas, Managing Director, and Francisco López, Manager of Community and Government Relations of the Galán Lithium company; Young Jo Kook, director of Foreign Relations, and Soon Hak Park, manager of POSCO's Catamarca office; José Ignacio Alioto, Government manager, Abas Tanud Mafud, Government coordinator, and Verónica Herrera, legal leader of Arcadium Lithium; Italo Francile of Panamerican Energy (PAE); Marcelo Murua, Minister of Mining; and Juan Marchetti, Minister of Infrastructure and Civil Works.
