You'd imagine they'd want to get ahead of the crowd by short-selling first, after all, they would want to use their informational advantage to the fullest possible extent. Then they can use the stock issued (at a 10% discount) by the company to cover their shorts. If so, Acuity's business model is based in part on generating downward momentum. Looking at the price charts of the other company's you mentioned, Mondy, this may not be too far from the truth.
