If the Glencore offtake provided Galan any way out, JP would already be shouting that from the rooftop. It's not the first time he's been asked - someone who was at RIU reached out to me and I asked them to quiz him specifically on this point in person, and they got the same vague "we have many options on the table"... that's what you say when you don't want to answer the question.

From a phase 1 funding perspective, the China strategy looks high and dry to me because they don't have any product to send them. Implying that China is still interested in funding is effectively arguing that they would be happy to fund the rest of phase 1 - so that Glencore can get their 5.4ktpa for no financial commitment - and then China will be able to get the remaining 15ktpa in several years' time (assuming all goes well in the ramp up). Does that sound to you like a deal the Chinese would do? I'm sure they'd get a few nice Xmas hampers from Glencore if they did...
