I don't think it is related to being close to the source but to the fact that if there is another salar underneath the resource might be much bigger than initially calculated and as brine has higher density it might hold at the bottom of the "pool" with higher concentration. I'm not and expert in this area so take this with a grain of salt: also the case of "stacked salars" was not studied, so we'll not really know for sure until drilling is done.
