I spoke to Clinton yesterday on the phone to touch base. He comes across as a seasoned industry professional with a background that includes working at Galaxy and Fortescue. For anyone wondering, I have zero affiliation but always like to do some due diligence when deciding whether to hold or trade. He did confirm that graphite flakes will be the preferred feedstock for VHD graphite production.

The VHD process involves mixing natural graphite with specific precursors and applying heat to create very high-density graphite blocks. This method offers a cost-effective and efficient alternative to traditional synthetic graphite production.

He also mentioned that Mackintosh graphite would be perfect for this process; however, it won’t be ready to mine in time. As such, they are initially working on securing other upstream supply sources to meet their ambition for commercial production in 2025. Notably, the McIntosh Graphite Project is on track to complete its pre-feasibility study (PFS) by 2025. GCM currently holds 80% ownership of the project after fulfilling Stage 3 earn-in requirements and investing over $4 million.
