TA won't tip you off that something is a poor long term investment while they're going up but in many cases, neither will FA. Plenty of the large institutions get caught in scams, think Enron or locally stocks like BIG or GSW or ISX as some recent examples ... but in almost all cases these scams were in downtrends before they were put into halts that they never came out of, because the institutions had woken up and were getting as much stock out as they could before the inevitable halt in trading

Good TA is about measuring the supply vs demand for the stock, is the stock forming a base and volatility contracting with volume dry up across the base, or is the stock trending and going up on good volume and seeing volume reduce in the pullbacks etc etc

I don't know why I waste my time looking at charts when I could just buy stuff and sit on big losses for years as a long term bag holder instead
