    Serra Verde took nearly 10 years to get into production

    Capex more than doubled to over US$400m

    Even more concerning, I heard that Serra Verde hasn’t managed to operate for 24hrs without stopping. Leaching is easy in theory but not in practice.

    Big bottle neck is filtering the clays post leaching, a nightmare, the cycle times are 3x longer than what they had projected and to top it off they are now considering changing back from sodium chloride to ammonium sulphate

    Always best to compare grades in the same units…and MEI does have
    excellent grades for IAC deposits…but it is clay at a 0.003% TREO grade.

    It may work in China/Myanmar - but they just pump acid into the clay to keep costs low, and with extreme environment damage
