Lynas are looking for a US based aquisition i think to use american CFIUS as a defence to block any future chinese unfriendly takeover
MEI doesnt quite fit that bill ....more like ARR for that
But if the chinese see they cant get Lynas then they can get MEI instead
just my take on it
