China is conveniently using the geopolitical landscape to clamp down on heavies, something they're not that strong on any more as they work through their own deposits and more and more the proximate IAC feedstock from adjacent countries (but still having great overall REE market dominance). This is as much about securing their own supply of heavies as anything else.
The Caldeira supply will bring better market behaviour and reliable supply to the west to diffuse future restrictions by China which in the long term I expect to be a footnote to the west if the western supply chain gets going.
