they are not covering the ponds. The brine / concentrate can stay in there as long as they need it to. The lithium isn't going anywhere, if anything the ppm just increases. Additional brine can be added as well so the concentration level in effect increases. There is also a process of adding reagents to the brine in the ponds, so they are actually an integral part in the processing, not just for evaporation.
