I spoke to Brian about exactly this. It is a long story but in short... (and in my interpretation of what was said)
- Mercury is a group of around 5 Chinese investors/business people.
- The initial plan was Mercury took a raise at 10c for their 20M odd shares, got a board seat and were meant to help AAU find Albion processing partners in China.
- Mercury didn't/couldn't deliver, lost their board seat. Seems like a few of them thought it would be a free ride.
- Mercury wish to exit, Brian has offered to buy their shares, and has also lined up other parties willing to buy their shares but apparently whenever they get close to an agreement on share price to do an offmarket transfer at, Mercury change their minds.
- One of the Mercury group wanted money out so wanted to sell off his 5M odd shares that are held in Mercury's name. This has been the on-market selling we have seen of late from Mercury.
- Brian was still in frequent communication with Mercury, trying to progress their departure from the shareholders list.
