EPIC, Cerner, Intersystems, AllScripts, Meditech etc are some big names out there that have been around in the industry for almost 30+ years now. Not only they have wealth of knowledge, clients and expertise but also a massive market cap to invest in all the right things e.g. development of algorithm etc.
In my view, Alcidion has a huge potential but it needs to innovate and capture market share asap so that it can truly disrupt this industry. Somebody mentioned NSW the other day. Those who dont know, NSW has a statewide implementation of Cerner and Alcidion doing something meaningful (win SPDR) at a state level will be a huge win for its future. My bet is on the UK & European market as Australia (minus WA,TAS?) has overly invested in systems that are hard to take out.
