Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust takes on two new systems

Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust has made two new procurements of digital systems to support its staff in the emergency department, theatres and recovery.

It is planning to implement the Miya Emergency module of Alcidion’s Miya Precision EPR system, and the Provation iPro anaesthesia information management system (AIMS).

Staff in the A&E department at the trust’s Darent Valley Hospital will become the first in the NHS to use Miya Emergency, with Miya Precision already being used across the trust.

The supplier said this will extend the benefits of the EPR to the emergency department with functions such as e-noting and clinical decision support, and will proactively suggest appropriate actions and automate routine tasks for clinical teams under pressure.

It will also be used to address monitoring and reporting requirements, including providing data for the national Emergency Care Data Set.

Moving away from paper
The Provation iPro AIMS system will be integrated with the trust’s existing solutions, including the EPR, to enable it to move away from paper based anaesthesia records. It will be deployed across the trust’s pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative locations.

The system has been described as the the world’s first mobile AIMS with the capability to automate and simplify anaesthesia documentation, and help staff to capture and manage patient information.

“Clinicians working in areas like our A&E and theatres are under continual pressure. Deploying technologies that can alleviate clinical burden and make data more useful, is an important step on our journey.”
