I always put it down to computers trying to get 1m+ trades out of people, but it could be anything. On slow days the market maker computers kick in more so probably that, they do weird stuff for our amusement I suppose. I honestly don't watch numbers much or I would go more insane (although I have about a decade ago put thought into it all). I have most likely looked at about 3 slow days this year.
