The commentary on that video from Fred says that rock samples taken up by RC rigs can be just as accurately tested as core samples, with the RC rigs being cheaper.
And, at the labs, aren't the samples crunched up anyway, to determine what minerals are present and in what concentration?
I guess different geos have their own preferences. And certain geology may lend itself to one type of drilling or the other.
