As the JV partner, I'm assuming PLL is able to say they want to consider the merit of hydroxide vs carbonate so the JV then has to go down the path of assessing the 2 options which will mitigate any chance of fast-tracking carbonate.
Its in their best interest to delay downstream as long as possible, what better way to do it then under the guise of weighing up 'what is best for the JV'.
This is why I was asking recently how the JV decision making process works - Seems its being leveraged to benefit one end of the JV more than the other.
