This is what Chris Ellison from MinRes said about building a lithium hydroxide plant, just before withdrawing his company from committing to it in lieu of mid-stream lithium sulphate:
“Mr Ellison also indicated MinRes had cooled on building a lithium hydroxide plant in Australia and instead is considering making an intermediate lithium sulphate product onshore. He said it was difficult and expensive to build a lithium hydroxide plant after previously championing the idea and lobbying the government for backing.”
