That looks to me like a stabilisation and bottoming of the spodumene price drop hey, this particular graph shows that quite nicely. The current spot price with SMM is around $3200 USD. It seems to be holding around the low $3k/tonne range for the last 2 months, which to me shows a definite stabilisation and consolidation as a bottom. That still leaves considerable margins for most spod producers, especially those with low opex.
We have yet to prove our steady state opex obviously, particularly as we are still in ramp up (which appears to be going very well).
We may start to see a bit of an increase in spod pricing leading towards the end of the year as stockpiles are exhausted and demand for new vehicles ramps up into Q4 as is traditional.
Overall, looking that this and other graphs, I'm not too worried, excellent margins still there for producers and this may be a sustainable price range to increase overall viability of battery costs and production which will actually lead to better more competitive EV pricing and conversely higher demand overall for our product.
We need stability and a gradually increasing SC price from this range for sustainable growth in the sector imo. Sentiment will then return as production figures are proven.
Btw, in other news.. our ship has rounded the Cape nicely and is a week away from Mauritius... on it's way to the Far East. Just have a look at that shipping lane if there is anyone here still in any doubt.
