Yes a BOT can alter the course of sales either way to suit lowering the SP to buy, or lift the SP to increase profit margin before dumping. On many exchanges around the world it is classed as predatory behaviour and they are totally banned, although in Australia the ACCC maintains that BOTS have little if any effect on market pricing.
