Let me say this from a completely outsider German:
1.) it makes no sense to post political views here big and wide. We live in the system we have chosen and the economy has to cope with it more or less well.
2.) the USA has been in the post-democratic period for several years. However, they still have a party system that made sense at a time when we were not yet in that period.
3. like every other state, the USA got and still gets exactly what it deserves.
4. in my opinion, according to my #2), for many years, people have only ever had a choice between plague and cholera, but not between "good" and "bad".
