Beyond the spewing of crap into the air the second best reason to go the Electricity route is one that often doesn't get recognised and that is the dependence on imported petroleum products. We have giant nuclear power plant in the Sky which creates the three most important requirements for renewable energy in Australia , wind, sunshine and rain and the source costs nothing , not in short supply and not controlled by foreign entities.

Why would you not want to wean yourself off oil supplied by other countries where price is dictated largely by cartels or supply and demand, when you have your own abundant source of energy plus electricity prices are much more stable than Oil prices. Even your own roof or section is a potential power station.

Technology is now becoming available to make these things happen so why wouldn't one embrace it...if there was a quest to find the biggest no brainer this would have to be it IMO ...
