During times of uncertainty social proof comes into play, each trader is looking around at one another for validity of their concerns.
People with authority in the industry are leveraging the uncertainty to their favour, incentivising writers with authority for the publications of their 'Outlook and projections' which you'll find is often pessimistic and is hardly substantiated and appropriately justified through the pieces. Most of which I've read provide assumption based projections based on generalisations of cause and effect in the market. It's just not that simple however it seems to be working for them with most small-mid cap EV's down 50%-70% YTD.
It's more psychology than numbers.
