FYI the Kwinana lithium hydroxide plant first started producing in August 2021.

Here we are two years later and it is producing about as much LiOH required for the batteries in 17,775 Teslas.

The other problem they would need to overcome, is what to do with the 200,000 tpy of sc that needs to go elsewhere (China) for chemical conversion,

This is perhaps a reason why the Chinese chemical converters are not worried about supply and can get away with paying less for concentrate.

This throws doubt on how quickly North America will be able to build lithium hydroxide production capacity to a level that challenges China’s domination in that field.
