One way of looking at the reduced production target (apologies if it's been mentioned) is that the SC grade is probably going to increase. Now keep in mind a higher grade is necessary for Carbonate production and the initial modelling done for the Carbonate plant states feedstock of around 186kt for an output of 23,600t.
Just thinking out loud but wouldn't you want to demonstrate a consistent ability to produce SC6 before committing downstream?
186kt feedstock leaves Piedmont 40kt under the offtake. Nothing to sneeze at from their point of view + their stake in SYAQ carbonate sales at USD 25,500/t.
I'm no expert by any means but we're going downstream folks.
