As much as I too do not like what shorts do to mum and dads investments they are a necessary evil in the stock market.
Without shorts there is no test of resilience in some stocks and in-built laziness and complacency takes hold.
This will put a lot of strain on management and SYA and if we can survive through it, it will breed in resilience that will make the future a lot more positive and easy.
Shorts also face unlimited upside risk in the event of something outside of market control. The only reason they win the majority is because of sheer size and hedging their bets.
As much as I too do not like what shorts do to mum and dads...
