100% thats exactly why basic short shares returned off volume is in-accurate. Especially if the sale was to themself at a discount to control the price as it adds to volume and in theory adds to a short term increase through the day in short %.
These guys werent born yesterday. They have access to buy and sell order data. The only thing they dont really know is large instant parcel purchases. As such all they can do is control the price via bullying it with their volume "size" holding relative to any retail holder.
