To me it seems essential. SYA should absolutely do this and should make a nice juicy announcement on it.
Albermarle also say product is sold ex-works, so for SYA doing auction on same terms would achieve best price plus buyer pays freight costs. The spot price we’ve all been watching is CIF China, ie delivered China so SYA likely incurs freight currently to achieve spot price.
i can only see auction as big positive for SYA.
Only marginal negative is in rising spot price and currently taking 6-8 weeks to ship the non-PLL product to China we get a higher price when it lands due to rising prices. Of course spot price can also go down.
