Most of us are familiar with BEV and PHEV technology but may be unaware of EREV (extended range electric vehicle).
Having owned a PHEV for three years, I can see where EREV may become more popular.
The main difference between PHEV and EREV is that the ICE component on the latter, does not drive the wheels.
The small ICE is there, only to charge the battery.
The wheels in an EREV are driven by the electric motor at all times.
