Yeah Canadians have had a love affair with Honda's products since back when I was the age of having my second car ( Honda Accord ) . There finishing details and options were always a cut above their North American counterparts. And with a market share ranking of I think 7th in the world just behind GM in 6th and 5th in Canada , their also ranked around 10th in the world ( by market cap terms ) and ahead of G.M so have very deep pockets as well. Currently they hold No. 3 & 4 spot with the most popular vehicle sold in Canada with its CRV in 3rd spot and its CIVIC in 4th behind the top 2 models which are both Toyota's.

Will be interesting if they do obtain a stake in Nemaska given Fords and GM's involvement with offtakes etc .....at Becancour and whether that actually sets up another direct investment play elsewhere ......, obviously like Sayona. Because , if that is the precedence which is set , the others will not like Honda having the advantage over the supply. So it should trigger a ripple on effect from their.

And it does look very much like Quebec changing tac'd here with its budgetary constraints playing more a role in dictating how it wants to structure deals with its critical minerals processing and extraction industries. It not only wants the returns back early , but obviously NEEDs these budget balancing contributions back in its coffers . And I can't help but wonder what level of interest they will ultimately ' retain ' in the future of Nemaska and others in the longer term.
