I have it in my head, that NAL could become a testing ground for cutting edge lithium mining and chemical conversion technology and processes.
A Centre of Excellence if you will.
The types of things that could be trialled there, are such things as microwave calcination of spodumene, Calix electric kiln for the production of mid-stream lithia chemicals, lithium metal production from lithium carbonate for solid state batteries, etc etc.
As well, the mining operation could be made fully electric with electric excavators and trucks, etc.
The district around NAL is well served by rail, road, hydroelectricity and a workforce with the necessary skills.
It is too good a jurisdiction to waste on same old, same old projects.
