Among the many things I intensely dislike about China (OK not the people per se .... except those in CCP ... which is a lot) is their "intent".

So I'm sorry ... but ... its a relatively free country (here (Aust), US, most of Europe, ...) and our economies are run that way. I don't cheer for BYD, or CATL in the sector that is relevant to SYA. I hate it that Australia allows Chinese manufactured imported cars. And yes I know I'm sort of "self destructive" in the view given China is really the market at present

BUT finally some poitician with a little bit of backbone has finally said what the the Chinese intent is ... and I think its been obvious for at least a couple of years now and have said so .... THE INTENT is to destroy the Western Auto OEM supply chain and with it a very large part of their economies with the state sponsored companies ... like BYD .... marauding as the shining light of innovation and capitalism.

As much as possibly can, I avoid (and pay more) Chinese made anything and for sure I would NEVER by BYD (or GWM, LDV,...)

My Mitsuibishi PHEV is made in Japan. Its LMO battery is made in Japan.
My Tesla Powerwall is made in USA (Gen-2 so still NMC not LFP).

As consumers we all have choices ... and we can bang on about Gov't incentives and programs ... but we also need to help and buying Chinese EVs even though they are much cheaper does not help "us"
