The whole point of the energy transition is to cut carbon emissions. Transport costs account for 3% of the world’s emissions, the second biggest contributor.
If the whole EV supply chain can be contained in one locality, the reduction in emissions will be immense.
All of the elements necessary for the EV supply chain are available in Canada, (pretty much all of them in neighbouring provinces, Ontario and Quebec).
With todays technology, it will be possible to electrify every step of the EV supply chain from mine to factory in Canada using hydroelectricity for power.
